Elizabeth II: why the queen should wear purple in the coming weeks?

For the coming weeks, Queen Elizabeth II will surely favor the color of mourning, namely purple. A color that she has declined in all shades through the years.

Last Wednesday, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 95th birthday. Despite the party in small committee, Buckingham Palace did not fail to mark this day with a white stone. Indeed, a photo of the sovereign was shared on social networks for the occasion. This is the photo of February 25, 2020 during the visit of the sovereign to MI5, in London. We are talking about “the branch of the British secret service in charge of internal security in the United Kingdom”.

In the photo, we clearly see the grandmother of Prince William and Prince Harry with a beautiful plum coat and a matching hat. This is a snapshot that was not shared gratuitously. Recall that the circumstances following the death of her husband, Prince Philip, impose a certain line related to mourning. Purple is a color of mourning especially at the level of royalty.

The choice of purple on all shades

This Buckingham Palace share hints at the queen’s eventual sartorial style for the coming weeks. Although nothing official has been announced about it, the circumstances speak volumes. In any case, Internet users will be fixed on this point in the coming days.

What is certain is that if the Queen decides to adopt purple for official occasions, she will be spoilt for choice. Over the past 20 years, she has, after all, used purple in every shade. Lavender, plum, mauve, violet, lilac, … everything is there! It is not the choice of outfits that will be missing if this is the case.
