On Monday, July 5, Prince Charles spoke with the Hospital Broadcasting Association as part of the 73rd anniversary of the British public health system. During the interview, the heir confided on his admiration for a great star of the song.
Asked about the different songs that have rocked his youth during an interview on Monday, Prince Charles showed some interest in a title … and a singer in particular. Indeed, the son of Elizabeth II seems to be a fervent admirer of Barbra Streisand, who chose the song Don’t Rain On My Parade among his favorites.
“I have always been a great admirer of the incredibly versatile American actress and singer Barbra Streisand,” Prince Charles explains, before going back to his first meeting with the singer, when he was 26 years old. “In 1974, while serving in the Royal Navy…as a young lieutenant on the frigate HMS Jupiter, we called the U.S. Navy base in San Diego, California…when I learned that she was currently filming the movie Funny Lady, at Warner Brothers Studios… I was lucky enough to visit the set and meet her there,” recalls William and Harry’s father, who was clearly not indifferent to the American star.
Prince Charles: This alleged relationship with Barbra Streisand
If we know only two official relationships of Prince Charles: Lady Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles, there is however a list of alleged conquests of the latter. And among the names, there is that of Barbra Streisand. If this has never been confirmed, many rumors have circulated about it, so much so that the journalist Christopher Andersen mentions this supposed romance in his book published in 2016, Game of Crowns: Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate and the Throne.
According to information gathered in the book, “a secret meeting at the Bel Air Hotel that no one ever knew about”, would have taken place between Prince Charles and Barbra Streisand. A maid would have even surprised them, explaining that she found them “very affectionate” towards each other. The American singer, not without humor, had ironized on these rumors in 2019, stating, “If I had played my cards right, I could have been the first Jewish princess.”
