The Queen had the chance to receive Prince William and Kate Middleton and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, at her home in Balmoral, Scotland, last week. A visit that delighted Elizabeth II.
How to make Her Majesty happy. At the end of August, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children packed their bags to fly to Scotland. Once there, the Cambridge family joined Elizabeth II at Balmoral, her Scottish estate where she has spent her summers for decades, as revealed by Vanity Fair. A visit that has filled with happiness the queen knowing that this is their first family reunion since the death of Prince Philip in April.
The Cambridges are still looking forward to his few days of rest in this beautiful home. “They still love going to Balmoral, they love the outdoors, walking in the hills and spending quality time with their family,” said a source. Before adding, “And that’s where William spent much of his childhood.” Their schedule is punctuated by long walks in the countryside, fishing, horseback riding and cycling. Activities that please George, Charlotte and Louis. But also barbecues as Prince Philip used to do.
Elizabeth II: a family vacation
The royal family has been working hard to ensure that the Queen is well supported during her annual summer vacation in Scotland. And for good reason, this year has not been a smooth one for Elizabeth II. But while she’s still mourning the death of her beloved husband, sources say she’s been keeping busy. The Queen entertained several members of her entourage during her stay at Balmoral. And as usual, Her Majesty reserved the last weekend of August for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. This was an opportunity for her to organize a big sleepover, which she greatly appreciates, and to pamper her loved ones by offering small gifts chosen personally. But it’s time to go back to school. The Cambridges are going back to work and their children to school. As for Elizabeth II, her schedule for the fall is full.
