Princess Eugenie of York may be the first member of the royal family to meet Lilibet Diana… as she would be hosting the Sussex family at Frogmore Cottage, as reported in the British press.
The privilege of proximity, or that of cohabitation? Princess Eugenie could thus be the first member of the royal family to meet her latest baby, Lilibet Diana, the daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, if her christening takes place in England. This is what the Daily Mirror reported on Thursday 16 September. Queen Elizabeth would not be the first to see her 11th great-grandchild in the flesh, for the simple reason that it is highly likely that the Sussexes will settle for their British stay in their former residence of Frogmore Cottage … currently occupied by Princess Eugenie and her family.
It is in this house, whose costly renovation had spilled its share of ink, that Prince Harry had already stayed during his previous visits to the kingdom, for the funeral of Prince Philip, or for the tribute to Lady Diana in early July. The prince had even completed his entire mandatory quarantine in the house, along with Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank, and their son August, born in February.
Eugenie and Harry are the best of friends
Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry have always been very close, since childhood. According to sources close to the family, they have “a natural bond,” and are “the best of friends.” According to our sources, Prince Harry and Eugenie have also grown closer through their assigned roles within the Firm: “Like Harry, Eugenie also had difficulty defining her own identity as she grew up,” they decipher in the book “Finding Freedom. An intimacy that leads to confidences, and a mutual trust between the cousins, up to their love choices, continue the authors: “Harry has always opened up to his cousin about the women in his life”.
As children, they shared vacations, thanks to the friendship of their mothers, Diana Spencer and Sarah Ferguson, growing up, it was together that they went out in London nightclubs, such as the trendy club Mahiki, where they both sneaked out through the fire exit. One of her few remaining supporters within the Firm, it would make sense for Eugenie to welcome her cousin and his family if they crossed the Atlantic, with the added thrill of seeing her little cousin for the first time. Maybe, be the godmother?
