Prince Harry not invited to the Jubilee of Elizabeth II?

2022 could increase tensions between Prince Harry and the Royal family. At the end of next year, the Duke of Sussex will release his memoirs, while Elizabeth II will celebrate her platinum Jubilee. A bad timing for Prince Harry who could not be invited to the celebrations, according to an expert of the royal family.

Next year, Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her 70th anniversary of reign. At 95, the monarch holds the record for longevity on the British throne. A reign that has not been all smooth sailing: her coronation at the age of 25, the death of Princess Diana, the Sussexes’ shock interview with Oprah Winfrey and most recently the renunciation of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from their royal engagements.

Since the departure of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from the United Kingdom, tension has been mounting between the couple and the royal family. And last July, the announcement of the publication of Prince Harry‘s memoirs scheduled for 2022 fanned the flames of crisis. So much so that Elizabeth II may not invite her grandson to her Platinum Jubilee. “The publication date becomes even more crucial, because if the book is published before the Jubilee, if it contains inflammatory and explosive material, it’s almost possible to think that Harry won’t even be invited,” royal historian Dr. Edward Owens told on Thursday, October 7. If not, “it will be a bit like what happened at Philip’s funeral, it will be a brief visit and then we’re gone,” he predicted. But the question remains unanswered. For several months, Buckingham Palace has refused to say whether the Sussexes will be invited to the weekend of celebrations, from 2 to 5 June 2022.

The content of the memoirs of Prince Harry

Prince Harry did not give details about the content of his memoir, but he said his book would trace his journey from childhood. “I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I have learned in my life so far, and I look forward to people reading my account of my life, which is accurate and completely truthful,” he said.

According to Dr. Owens, Prince Harry “will talk about the difficult relationship he has with some of his family members,” he assured our news outlets before adding, “He will talk about the burden of the monarchy and how difficult it is for young royals to live a fulfilling life.”
