The Crown Princess is obviously back from Wales! King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain have indeed just unveiled a new family portrait. On the picture, chosen for their greeting card, their daughters Leonor and Sofia are again together.
After that of Kate Middleton and William, then that of the royal family of Jordan, it is the turn of the King and Queen of Spain to unveil their greeting card for the New Year. Friday, December 17, 2021, Felipe VI and Letizia have indeed revealed the photo chosen this year to accompany their wishes. If the sovereign couple had disappeared last year, in favor of their two daughters, the clan poses this time in full.
According to Hola! the family portrait was taken in the gardens of the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid. Princesses Leonor and Sofia (16 and 14 years) are still in the foreground, all smiles, their blond manes in front, warm in their winter sweaters (see slideshow). If you look closely, the two sisters let you see their tender complicity as they are holding hands. Behind them stand their parents: Felipe and Letizia also appear smiling, in rather relaxed poses.
“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022,” reads the back of the card. “With all our affection and best,” it was added by hand, before the signatures of the sovereign couple and their two princesses. Appearances for the four of them are now rare for Felipe and Letizia, now that Crown Princess Leonor has gone to Wales to pursue her secondary education at UWC Atlantic College, an elitist school worthy of the Harry Potter movies… The teenager had nevertheless returned last October to take part in the Princess of Asturias Awards, to the delight of her little sister Sofia.
While waiting for the return of her elder sister, Queen Letizia has been very busy these last weeks. Returning from their official trip to Sweden with Felipe, the 50-year-old former journalist has since reappeared in Madrid, her bold red waders on her feet.
