The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already announced that they will stay in Montecito, California to spend the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. According to Page Six, this decision would have been made to avoid making headlines in the British press. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet could however celebrate New Year’s Eve by videoconference with Queen Elizabeth II according to The Express UK.
Indeed, the information that would come from a royal source was revealed by the newspaper on December 19, 2021. According to Stewart Pearce, the former vocal coach of Princess Diana: “They will be very excited to share their Christmas in Los Angeles and to participate in the one in Sandringham”. On December 10, the same British newspaper had revealed the words of the Royal expert Neil Sean who had discussed the exchange of Christmas gifts: “There will be some gifts, but it will be very formal. (…) Let’s just say that whatever they send each other will be from a distance”.
Queen Elizabeth II had to cancel her traditional Christmas dinner.
New Year’s Eve by videoconference with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children could put a smile on Queen Elizabeth II’s face. Prince Charles‘ mother recently had to cancel her traditional Christmas dinner, which was to be held on Dec. 21 in Windsor, because of the Covid-19 outbreak in the United Kingdom.
The Christmas festivities at Sandringham are still on for now. Prince William, Kate Middleton and their three children have canceled all their plans in order to enjoy the Queen to the fullest. This Christmas will mark the first for Queen Elizabeth II since the death of her husband, Prince Philip.
