War in Ukraine: Prince Harry devastated by sad news

A Ukrainian member of the Invictus Games died in the conflict between the country and Russia. A news that must upset Prince Harry, very involved with soldiers and veterans of war injured and disabled.

The Invictus Game foundation announced this Wednesday, March 16, on Twitter, the death of one of their members in the war that is currently raging in Ukraine, as reported byour source “We regret to announce that a member of the Ukrainian Invictus Games community has lost his life during the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” it is written. A sad news that must have devastated Prince Harry, very committed to the cause. In a statement published on the website of the foundation, it is specified that it is Serhii Karaivan. The man would have died “in battle” on March 13. “We know that many Invictus Games competitors, alongside the team staff and management, have committed to serve once again. Many already had injuries sustained in the conflict with Russia since 2014,” the statement continued.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke out shortly after war broke out in Ukraine, in a message posted on their Archewell Foundation website. “Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and all of us at Archewell support the Ukrainian people against this violation of international and humanitarian law,” it read. Archie and Lilibet‘s parents also called on “the world community and its leaders to do the same.”

Prince Harry was behind the creation in 2014 of the Invictus Games, Paralympic games whose participants are soldiers maimed by war. Meghan Markle‘s husband is particularly sensitive to this cause since he saw the devastation that war can cause during his stays in Afghanistan in 2007-2008 and 2012-2013. The next Invictus Games should take place from April 16 to 22 in The Hague in the Netherlands.
