Stéphane Bern has made the preservation of the hexagonal heritage his main fight. Saturday, March 19, the journalist posted on Instagram with Albert II of Monaco at the foot of the castle of Haut-Buisson where the last companion of his great-great-grandfather, Alice Heine, lived. Quite a symbol!
“Mr. Heritage”, as Emmanuel Macron affectionately nicknamed him, was once again on the front lines on Saturday, March 19, to save the vestiges of our country’s history. Stéphane Bern, who is behind the famous Loto du patrimoine launched in 2018, thus went to Cherré, in the Sarthe, to visit the castle of Haut-Buisson, a well-known domain of Albert II of Monaco. The Monegasque prince was also part of the party, certainly delighted to walk in the footsteps of the last wife of his great-great-grandfather Albert I of Monaco, Alice Heine. “Visit to the construction site at the castle of Haut-Buisson in Cherré-Au where Princess Alice of Monaco lived with H.S.H. Sovereign Prince Albert II,” wrote the Secrets of History star on Instagram, describing a photo of him alongside the Monegasque ruler.
The former editor-in-chief of Dynasty magazine has launched a major appeal for donations to renovate this somewhat faded building: “The castle of Haut-Buisson, left without maintenance for several years, now has disorders in the roof that cause seepage responsible for the beginning of subsidence of the floors,” reads the website of the Heritage Foundation. Charlene of Monaco’s partner is certainly eager to find this place fitted out as Alice Heine, who became Princess Alice of Monaco following her marriage to Prince Albert I, had done with care. She had also made this castle her last home and had brought her personal touch, as the foundation said: “The castle is known for its English luxury with refined rooms, a very modern comfort for the time, but also for its greenhouses where the princess grows her pink orchids.
Albert II of Monaco and Stéphane Bern: a solid friendship
If Stéphane Bern is bitten by royalty in general, it would seem that the presenter is particularly attached to the Rock and its sovereigns. In December 2021, when the wife of Prince Albert II was convalescing in Switzerland, he had testified his support and attachment to the brother of Stephanie of Monaco to Gala: “I am in contact quite regularly with the Sovereign Prince, he loves her (ed. note: Charlene of Monaco) deeply and takes very good care of his children.”
