This Monday, May 9, 2022, Queen Letizia participated in the roundtable discussions aimed at presenting Spain as an attractive audiovisual hub in Europe. The discussions took place in the auditorium of ICEX, in Madrid.
Discussions on Spanish competitiveness in the audiovisual production sector
Queen Letizia participated in the round tables entitled “Competitive advantages of filming in Spain”, organized by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, ICEX-Invest in Spain and the Spanish Film Commission. The round tables are part of the Plan to promote the audiovisual sector “Spain, audiovisual pole of Europe”.
The Audiovisual Sector Promotion Plan aims to make Spain the main audiovisual hub in Europe. It promotes national audiovisual production and attracts investment, strengthening the sector’s companies, improving its competitiveness through digitization and supporting talent.
Queen Letizia attended the discussion forum in the presence of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto. After the traditional inaugural speeches, the Queen of Spain attended the screening of a video on the attractions of shooting in Spain. The video helped to understand the tax incentives that exist in Spain.
The Royal Household indicates that this Promotion Plan hopes to increase the audiovisual production carried out in Spain by 30% by the end of the period, 2025. The measures are articulated in four axes based on three priorities: to make Spain a pole of attraction for audiovisual production; to reduce administrative and regulatory costs; to improve the competitiveness of companies through the application of new technologies that allow them to compete in a digitized market; and to generate talent by reducing the gender gap.
