This Sunday, May 29, 2022, the Mexican driver Sergio Pérez won the Monaco Grand Prix, for this first post-pandemic edition. Prince Albert II, Princess Charlene, Hereditary Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella of Monaco attended the race and the traditional sprinkling of champagne on the podium.
Sergio Pérez’s victory at the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix
In 2020, for the first time in 65 years of the Monaco Grand Prix, the race was cancelled due to the pandemic. The following year, in 2021, the race did take place but the organization had been adapted and the public could not attend the race in the streets of the Principality as usual. Only a few privileged people were able to follow the race from the grandstands and in compliance with numerous measures.
In 2022, the Monaco F1 Grand Prix made its comeback, without any measures or restrictions. Many Monegasques were enthusiastic about the return of the race. For several days, the residents have been busy around the pits where the engines have already been roaring for several days for the qualifications. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene also attended the test sessions on Saturday, wandering between the pits and stopping off at several teams.
