A special gift for a very special occasion. On the occasion of Elizabeth II’s jubilee, Emmanuel Macron decided to offer the sovereign one of the horses of the Republican Guard.
A queen royally spoiled! While the festivities of her platinum jubilee will be in full swing, Elizabeth II will be overwhelmed by countless gifts. And among them will slip that of Emmanuel Macron. The French President wanted to find the perfect present to celebrate Her Majesty’s 70th birthday. For this very special occasion, the tenant of the Elysee Palace decided to offer one of the 470 horses of the Republican Guard Cavalry Regiment to the 96-year-old sovereign, as revealed by our confreres of Paris Match. Already the owner of a hundred horses in several stables in the country, Elizabeth will be able to welcome Fabuleu de Maucour. “French saddle of 7 years, from a breeding of the Meuse, it is provided with a gray dress which distinguishes it and destines it to the standard and its escort”.
“It is the flagship horse of the regiment’s cavalry,” said General Eric Bio Farina. The choice of this gelding, standard-bearer on the Champs-Élysées on May 8, was not made by chance: “I wanted a wise horse, representative of the regiment, that would please the Queen,” he told Paris Match. And he added: “I understand that she likes grey horses very much. I’m sure nothing could please her more.” Other gifts will accompany this horse, “including a saddle and a saber from the Republican Guard.” Exceptional gifts that can only please this equestrian enthusiast.
Elizabeth II: her great passion for horses
“When you meet her and talk to her, you forget that she is the Queen. You just see someone who loves her horses, who loves horses in general. She likes to be with them and talk about them,” testified trainer Louise Robson in a report on TF1’s 20H broadcast on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Since she was a little girl, Elizabeth has had a passion for horses. So much so that the mother of Prince Charles is the proud owner of a racing stable. A property that has allowed him to touch over the years a handsome sum. Indeed, these horses have earned him 7.77 million pounds (or 8.7 million euros) in 31 years, as reported by the British press and equestrian media in 2019, which took a calculation given by the site my.racing.com. According to the latter platform, the sovereign has achieved 534 victories as owner since 1988, in 3,205 flat or jumping races.
Very fond of horse racing, Elizabeth II does not miss an opportunity to attend equestrian competitions. Despite her health problems, the grandmother of Princes Harry and William attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show near Windsor Castle on May 13, 2022. And for her jubilee, horses will have a central place in the festivities. On Saturday, June 4, Elizabeth and her family will attend the Derby at Epsom Downs, one of her favorite races.
