This weekend, Prince Albert II of Monaco agreed to talk about the long convalescence of his wife, who stayed away from the spotlight for some time because of a heavy ENT infection. An ordeal that has marked the House of Grimaldi.
While she began to recover slowly from her heavy ENT infection, Princess Charlene of Monaco has tested positive for Covid-19, as revealed in a statement from the Principality of Monaco on Saturday evening, June 4. A new ordeal for the former champion swimmer and her clan already marked by the long absence of the princess in recent months. “It has been a trial! An ordeal for my wife, especially, who suffered a lot and lived difficult moments, far from her family. A trial also for our children and for myself. We have missed the princess very much,” Albert II confided in the columns of the JJD, this Sunday June 5.
Divorce, “elopement” … A multitude of rumors had been added to this dark picture, affecting the son of Rainier III and Grace Kelly: “We were obviously hurt by the malicious rumors that have been spread. But we knew how to remain united despite the distance, we talked a lot.” Whatever, the father of Gabriella Thérèse Marie and Jacques Honoré Rainier has now drawn a line on this complicated period by welcoming the return of his half on the Rock: “Today, Charlene is back among us and it is the most beautiful thing that could happen. She is better and we can finally spend time together.”
“My health is still fragile”
If Princess Charlene of Monaco has regained a taste for Monegasque life by appearing at prestigious events like the Monaco Grand Prix or Monte Carlo Fashion Week, the former Olympic champion wants to be cautious: “My health is still fragile and I don’t want to go too fast. The road has been long, difficult and so painful,” she confessed to Monaco Matin, Wednesday, May 25, 2022. And to conclude on a more optimistic note: “When I returned to the Principality, I focused all my energy on my children, my husband and my health, because they are my priority. […] I am very happy to be back home in Monaco and with my family.”
