After several outings as a couple in recent days, Prince Albert appeared without his wife during a trip to the United States. As spotted by our colleagues of Royal Stories, the husband of Princess Charlene went across the Atlantic to attend the World Championships of Athletics this Saturday, July 23.
A surprise appearance across the Atlantic. Recently seen on the arm of his wife on the evening of the traditional gala of the Monegasque Red Cross, then during a private meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican, it is this time alone that Prince Albert made a new trip to the United States. As spotted by the website Histoires Royales, the Monegasque sovereign went there to attend the World Athletics Championships, which took place in Eugene, from July 15 to 24, 2022. A few days after leaving Rome, the father of the twins Jacques and Gabriella decided to go to Oregon where the famous sports competition took place.
This Saturday, July 23, the ninth day of the World Championships of Athletics, the husband of Princess Charlene was present in the Hayward Field, the place where the majority of the sports meetings take place. However, one may wonder why Prince Albert did not come accompanied by his wife, who is known to be a sports fan, being herself a former professional swimmer. After his recent trips to Norway and Italy, not to mention his official duties on the Rock, perhaps Princess Charlene, who has had several health problems recently, wanted to take it easy…
Prince Albert seen in the Hautes-Pyrénées
Before flying to the United States, Prince Albert II of Monaco made a stop in the Hautes-Pyrénées on July 21. The Monegasque sovereign was indeed keen to be present in the department for the stage of the Tour de France which links Lourdes to Hautacam. A trip that allowed him to combine “two of his main functions” as specified by the site Actu.fr: “He will meet with religious figures in Lourdes, then he will attend the entire stage of the Tour. He should even attend the start of the 19th stage, this Friday, July 22, in the town of Castelnau-Magnoac in the northern Hautes-Pyrénées.” And the interested party confided to our confreres of La Dépêche: “The Tour is the greatest race in the world, one of the greatest sporting events on the planet and it is with great pleasure that I go to at least one stage each year.” A passion for the sport that he shares with his wife.
