Stephanie, Caroline of Monaco, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Sarah Ferguson: The crowned heads at the beach

Ice cream in hand, topless on the sand or during water sports… With the arrival of summer, the crowned heads almost forget the protocol for the greatest pleasure of their faithful subjects and the paparazzi passing by on the favorite beaches of the gotha.

Between Balmoral and Saint-Tropez, on beaches at the other end of the world or close to home… The crowned heads have their habits for the summer. Like the heads of state, the gotha is never so spied as when they enjoy the beautiful days. From sunbathing in a bikini or topless, to sports sessions on the beach and far niente by the pool, they reveal themselves to the common man in a new light.

If Kate Middleton complained in September 2012 against the magazine Closer during the publication of photos of her topless in the south of France, Lady Diana played with the paparazzi. The mother of Princes William and Harry offered the world famous shots of her in beachwear. The most iconic of them, will remain the one where she appears alone on the diving board of a boat in her blue one-piece swimsuit.

Stéphane and Caroline of Monaco: two sisters, two styles on vacation

Stéphanie of Monaco does not settle for photographers. Target of the most curious looks since her childhood, the little sister of Prince Albert II has more than once been taken in topless photo or in thong on her deckchair. Used to Mauritius, the photos of her defying the waves of the ocean remain memorable. Over the years, the princess with the muscular figure appeared accompanied by her children making sandcastles, like her sister Caroline.

Two sisters, two styles. If the youngest one plays it sexy rebel, the elder one is elegant even in swimsuit when she plays with her children on the beach. Her favorite place for the summer: Saint-Tropez. In the south of France, the gotha mixes with the jet set. Between champagnes and white parties, the photos speak volumes about the memorable memories of their evenings.

The gotha to the rescue of the beaches

On abandoned beaches, shellfish, but also forgotten waste. When they are not sunbathing, the crowned heads save the sea bed. For a good cause, they arm themselves with garbage bags and go in search of cigarette butts, bottles and other detritus. Kate Middleton and Prince William have already done this, as have the Belgian royal family and King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden during a trip to India.

As for Elizabeth II, she enjoys the peace and quiet of Balmoral in Scotland where her family spends time with her. If they have to make a detour to the 96-year-old monarch’s summer residence again this year, unlike Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Prince William were spotted boarding a helicopter to reach their estate at Anmer Hall, located in Norfolk County.
