Princess Anne: busy start to the year for the sister of Charles III

This Sunday, the daughter of Queen Elizabeth II, went to the church of St Mary Magdalene, in Sandringham, alongside her brother King Charles III. From her obligations in England to Cyprus through Greece, Princess Anne, has decidedly a busy schedule.

Royal responsibilities, Princess Anne is not without them. Indeed, the sister of King Charles III began the year with a trip to Cyprus, where she visited the demilitarized zone of the former British colony, independent since 1960. Alongside the Cypriots on January 11, the princess was in Greece on January 16 for the funeral of King Constantine II at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. She had paid tribute to the sovereign, who died earlier this year, on behalf of the Windsor family.

The 72-year-old heiress still had one foot in the plane last week. On Tuesday, it was with her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, that she was welcomed at Kadriorg Castle in Estonia by President Alar Karis. The princess, who holds the title of Colonel-in-Chief of the King’s Royal Hussars – a cavalry regiment of the British Army – visited the military base in Tapa. This Sunday, January 29, the princess returned to her English homeland. Accompanied by her brother, King Charles III, the children of Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the religious service in the church of St Mary Magdalene, in Sandringham.

A reputation for hard work

Since the death of the Queen last September, her daughter Anne has not stopped honoring her royal obligations. A schedule that, according to our colleagues of Vanity Fair, has placed the heiress “at the top of the annual list of members of the British royal family with the most public appearances. The British media, the Telegraph had done the calculations in December 2022: Princess Anne had honored 214 of the official engagements of the royal family. She has thus surpassed her brother Charles III and his 181 engagements, his nephew Prince William and his 126 appearances, himself before his wife Kate Middleton, the red lantern of the ranking with 100 honored appointments.
