On the eve of his coronation next May, Charles III has found the ideal photographer to cover the ceremony. An idea that comes straight from the marriage of his son William and Kate Middleton.
The coronation of Charles III will take place on May 6th. The opportunity for the son of Queen Elizabeth II to put the world in awe. This Sunday, February 12, the Times reported that the husband of Camilla Parker Bowles had chosen the same photographer as Kate and William for their wedding. Known for his sharp eye and focus, Hugo Burnand is known for his portraits. “His mantra is simple: try not to screw it up,” reveals the British daily.
After Charles and Camilla’s wedding in 2005, William and Kate had called on his services in 2011 for their union. The media reports that the photographer had notably bribed their young pages and bridesmaids by using sugared almonds to capture the moment. Hugo Burnand, 59, is not unusual for royal commissions. But with the coronation of the King of England, he is about to take up a major challenge. Indeed, on May 6th, all the cameras in the world will be focused on the event, heralding a new reign. There is no doubt that Buckingham Palace will give Burnand some instructions on the royal photos.
Portraits of Margaret Thatcher and Michael Jackson
Hugo Burnand started professional photography at the age of 27, after having been a groom and insurance broker. He has collaborated with Tatler magazine, among others. The Daily Mail reports that Hugo Burnand’s portfolio is more than just a royal portrait artist, it includes photographs of Margaret Thatcher, Michael Jackson and Jeremy Clarkson. If this is not Hugo Burnand’s first try, the coronation of King Charles III is an incredible challenge, where second chances will not be allowed.
