Before she joined the royal family, Meghan Markle already had a strong opinion about her future in-laws. The future Duchess of Sussex commented on the wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William in April 2011 on her blog The Tig, and gave her vision of things.

On April 29, 2011, the eyes of the world were on Westminster Abbey and the wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. In the United States, a certain Meghan Markle, an almost unknown actress who will eventually land a role in the American series Suits, made her little comment on the royal wedding. On her lifestyle blog, called The Tig, in reference to a Tuscan wine, the one who has been running around the castings for years hoping to get the role of her life, wanted to give her point of view to her community.

The actress reflected on the fascination with “Princess Kate“, saying that it was not what she dreamed of as a child. “Little girls dream of being princesses. As for me, I was just She-Ra, the princess of power. For those unfamiliar with the 80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is He-Man’s twin sister and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength,” Meghan Markle explains, before summing up, “We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here.” A princess of power and a royal rebel far from an innocent Cinderella. Comments, not very flattering for Kate Middleton, which prove how much the one who will become the wife of Prince Harry had already a furious desire to break the codes and to draw his own way.

A royal wedding, and a departure into exile two years later

After a sublime wedding in May 2018 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, it is clear that the American actress has not been able to find her place in the British royal family. After a fractious breakup, named Megxit in reference to the Brexit, the couple from Sussex preferred to move away from the Firm and the English press that they accused of all their ills, in order to make a new start. Installed now in a luxurious villa in Montecito in California with their two children Archie and Lilibet, the Sussex settle their accounts with the Windsor, and the end of the war does not seem to be for tomorrow.
