The date will be historic! On May 6, 2023, King Charles III will be crowned in front of the whole world. To make his dress, Camilla called on the favorite designer of Diana.

On May 6, 2023, a new page of British history will be written. 70 years after the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, it is the turn of Charles III. The course of the ceremony, which will take place over a whole weekend, is gradually taking shape, even if the presence of the couple formed by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still remains a mystery. All the British people and the whole world will have their eyes riveted on the royal family, in particular on Prince George and Camilla Parker Bowles who will also be crowned as Queen Consort.

For the first time in British history, the Queen Consort will be crowned at the same time as her husband King Charles III. To do so, Camilla is also organizing the preparations for this great celebration and for her dress she decided to give all her confidence to Bruce Oldfield. Seventy-two-year-old couturier, he has worked for ten years with Diana, who had admitted that he was her favorite designer. A choice that questions when we know the relationship between the designer and the ex-wife of the King. For several years now, Camilla and Bruce Oldfield have established a close relationship and the latter has dressed her for several important occasions. A source close to the royal family told The Sun that for Camilla “the choice was natural and obvious”. Bruce Oldfield said, “I gave Diana her glamour and Camilla her confidence.”

A tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

In addition to the dress designed by Bruce Oldfield, Queen Consort Camilla completed her gown with some jewelry to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. Indeed, the crown of Queen Mary of Teck, manufactured by Garrard & Co in 1911 was removed from the exhibition of the Tower of London to be modified before the ceremony. The Queen Consort wishes to adorn the crown with diamonds from the personal collection of King Charles III’s mother. The coronation is already shaping up to be an exciting mix of tradition and modernity.
