In a few weeks, the king of England will begin his official visit to France. He will go to Landiras, a small town in Gironde particularly affected by the fires of last summer.

A few days before the official visit of Charles III as sovereign in France, the mayor of Landiras is looking forward to such a visit. “It is a great honor that the King is visiting us,” he exclaimed on BFMTV. If the King visits Landiras, it is because the town was particularly affected by the summer fires. Live on BFMTV, its mayor, Jean-Marc Pelletant, explained that the King will come “to see the ecological impact on the ground.
The program of the King of England is gradually revealed. After a state banquet in Versailles on March 27, he will go to Bordeaux the next day to visit the areas affected by last summer’s fires. As a reminder, the months of July and August were animated by a series of fires that destroyed no less than 32,000 hectares of forest. Concerned about environmental issues, Charles III wishes to express, through his visit, his interest in the problems related to global warming. He will meet with rescue workers and participants in forest restoration projects. Accompanied by Camilla Parker Bowles, the royal couple should also visit an organic vineyard, “pioneering a sustainable approach to winemaking, including generating its own solar energy and capturing and converting the carbon dioxide it produces,” as stated on the Buckingham Palace website.
A visit to strengthen ties after the Brexit
While he is being crowned next May, Charles III’s visit is not without interest. After the many pitfalls caused by the Brexit, his visit to France shows a desire to strengthen ties with his European neighbors. On the Buckingham Palace website, the Palace explains, “This visit will celebrate the relationship between the UK and France as well as Germany, marking our shared culture, values and history. It is also a chance to look to the future […]” After a short trip to the Bordeaux region, the King and Queen are expected to return to the capital by train on the evening of the 28th, before heading to Berlin the following day.
