Camilla Parker Bowles pulled out all the stops for Charles III’s first state banquet in Germany on Wednesday 29 March. All dressed in rhinestones, the queen consort also paid tribute to Elizabeth II with her stunning outfit, as reported by the “Daily Mail”.
She shone with a thousand lights alongside her husband. On Wednesday, March 29, Camilla Parker Bowles and King Charles III made their first official state visit to Berlin, Germany, where they were first welcomed at the Brandenburg Gate before attending a state banquet hosted by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. At the event, which was held in aid of Ukraine, the Queen Consort, although mourning the recent death of a close friend, caused a stir by wearing a diamond-studded honeycomb tiara by Boucheron, a favorite of the late Queen Elizabeth II, on top of her head, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Photographed shaking hands with prestigious guests, such as former German Chancellor Angela Merkel or the famous dancer and choreographer Motsi Mabuse, the mother-in-law of Princes William and Harry also wore other symbolic jewellery of the Crown: Elizabeth II’s fringed diamond necklace as well as the garter star that belonged to the family of Queen Victoria, all completed by the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit that was presented to her yesterday by the German head of state. The jewels of choice that Camilla Parker Bowles unveiled on an elegant black evening gown embroidered with silver rhinestones signed Bruce Oldfield, the British designer responsible for creating the outfit she will wear on May 6, date of her coronation and that of her husband.
King Charles III, king of style on the arm of Camilla
The king was not left behind in terms of style during this Berlin banquet. Instead of the modern suit he chose for his first official portrait as monarch, Charles III opted for a more traditional outfit, which also featured a number of strong accessories: a white tie, the sash of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, several medals and miniature diamonds. A flamboyant look in which he gave a warm speech, saying he was “deeply touched by the welcome” that has always been extended to him when he travels to Germany.
