As Charles III prepares to welcome many of the Windsors to Balmoral this summer, the monarch is not expecting a visit from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, reports The Mirror. Although Archie and Lilibet’s parents did receive an invitation, the King did not insist that the Sussexes accept it.
It was finally time for Charles III to go on holiday! After an eventful year that included the death of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, the publication of Prince Harry‘s memoirs and, finally, his coronation and that of Queen Camilla, Prince William’s father will finally be able to get some rest. To make the most of the summer period, the sovereign will visit Balmoral, as all monarchs have done since the 19th century, and will invite his family.
Buckingham Palace has already sent invitations to the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, as well as to Princess Anne and her daughter Zara Tindall. According to royal expert Robert Johnson, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson could also make an appearance during the summer. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children are not expected at Balmoral this summer. “They have received an open invitation from Buckingham Palace to join the family reunion, but there has been no personal message from the King,” Robert Johnson told the Mirror. There is little, if any, dialogue between the monarch and his second son.”
Will Harry and Meghan travel to Balmoral?
As the Windsors prepare to head to Birkhall’s Balmoral residence for the summer, could the Sussexes join the rest of the clan? After all, hasn’t Prince Harry, who is due to reappear publicly soon, been trying to re-establish contact with his elder brother and father since the start of the summer? In the press, he is said to be ready to leave California, move into Kensington Palace and return to the Firm. So why not go to Balmoral to discuss this possibility face to face with his father?
