A Royal Surprise: Beatrice of York’s Unanticipated Presence at Hussein of Jordan’s Wedding Sparks Intrigue

For once, Beatrice of York took centre stage at the Jordanian royal wedding on 1 June 2023. Prince Andrew’s daughter was not at all expected at this event, and yet she shone alongside Princess of Wales and William.

A rare opportunity to shine. Beatrice of York is a rather discreet member of the Royal Family. Married to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and the mother of a daughter Sienna, the 34-year-old does not often have the opportunity to appear at prestigious events, apart from family reunions. The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson is not an active member of the royal family, so she does not normally appear at state dinners or other receptions involving representation of the royal family.

This time Princess Beatrice had the opportunity to shine: thanks to her friendship with Prince Hussein of Jordan, the mother of little Sienna was able to join Princess of Wales and William. And she didn’t go unnoticed: dressed in a long, pale pink dress by Reem Acra, she had a precious accessory in her hair. Beatrice wore the York tiara, the one her mother wore on her wedding day to Prince Andrew. Princess Beatrice had never been seen wearing a tiara, except on her wedding day.

Beatrice of York resplendent at the ceremony

Princess Beatrice entered the luxurious gates of the Jordanian palace shortly after 4 p.m. on 1 June 2023, greeted by the groom’s parents. In a pale blue floral embroidered dress by London label Needle and Thread, Princess Eugenie’s sister made a big impression. Accompanied by her husband, property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson curtseyed to thank Queen Rania and King Abdullah for their welcome. A close friend of the Hashemite royal couple for many years, the mother of little Sienna was delighted to be able to attend the union of their eldest son.
