New Royal Foursome Emerges
The Royal Family appears to have found its new leading quartet. The Prince and Princess of Wales joined the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace this week, with the foursome drawing comparisons to a new “fab four” — a term that once defined a different, now-broken royal partnership.
For years, the label belonged to Princes William and Harry alongside their wives, Catherine and Meghan. That dynamic pairing captivated the world, offering a glimpse of a modern, youthful British monarchy. However, the dream collapsed following a well-publicized rift that saw Prince Harry and Meghan Markle step back from royal duties in September 2020 and eventually relocate to the United States.
Edward and Sophie The Steady Anchors
In the aftermath, a new foursome has quietly taken shape — and this week’s gathering at Buckingham Palace put that partnership firmly on display.
Prince Edward, the youngest sibling of King Charles and 19 years William’s senior, has emerged as a vital generational link within the family. His steady presence bridges the gap between the King’s era and the next chapter under William. Alongside him, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, has cultivated a warm and genuine friendship with Catherine — a bond that observers say has strengthened considerably in recent years.
Together, the two couples project an image of stability, commitment and quiet dedication — qualities that now define the working core of the modern monarchy.

Queen Elizabeth’s 100th Birthday Brings the Four Together
The latest public display of unity came during celebrations at Marble Hall, Buckingham Palace, held to commemorate what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday. Approximately 190 guests gathered for the occasion, with the foursome seen together, raising a cocktail in memory of the late monarch.
Catherine drew admiration in an elegant light pink A-line dress, while William cut a sharp figure in a tailored suit. Sophie offered a touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth with a white shirtdress featuring a riding-boot print, and Edward complemented the theme with a red tie adorned with horse motifs a nod to the late Queen’s lifelong love of horses.
A Day Packed With Royal Engagements
The commemoration capped a full day of royal duties. Earlier, Edward and Sophie attended the British Museum, where they viewed the final design proposals for the Queen Elizabeth Memorial a landmark tribute planned for St James’s Park. The proposed design, presented by architect Lord Forster, includes a striking glass bridge and a 7.3-metre statue depicting a young Queen Elizabeth II.
William and Catherine, returning from a quieter period following the Easter break, joined the afternoon proceedings at Buckingham Palace. True to form, William brought levity to the room, charming 100-year-old guest Joan Hollingworth with a playful quip: “I can’t believe you are 100! Do we need to call security? Have you snuck in?”
The day concluded with Buckingham Palace releasing a rare family photograph, capturing the full complement of working royals assembled for the centenary celebration.

Can the New Fab Four Live Up to the Name?
Whether William, Catherine, Edward and Sophie can replicate or surpass the original fab four’s public appeal remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that this foursome is built on a foundation of consistency and mutual respect rather than novelty or spectacle.
In a monarchy navigating change and scrutiny, that steadiness may prove to be exactly what the institution needs.
