Meghan Markle: this video call that Charles III and William wouldn’t answer

Meghan Markle did not really have a say in the negotiations of the famous “Megxit“. Robert Jobson, royal correspondent and author, publishes a new book on April 13 in which he explains why she was not invited to the “Sandringham summit” in January 2020.

We know a little more about the background of the Megxit. Robert Jobson, a specialist in the British monarchy will publish his new book, “Our King Charles III – The man and The monarch” on April 13. The Daily Mail publishes excerpts all this weekend of April 8, 2023, and the royal correspondent does not spare to tell the backstage of the life of Sussex. In January 2020, during the so-called “Sandringham Summit”, the day when the Megxit was negotiated between Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry, in the presence of Charles and William, Robert Jonson confirms Meghan‘s absence. “The queen decided that her participation was not necessary, and that Prince Harry would be enough to represent her,” writes the author.

But the humiliation does not end there: the queen, fearing that microphones had been installed in the meeting room, had the place cleaned minutes before the family conference. And there would be another reason behind Elizabeth II’s refusal to have Meghan participate via video conference: “The video conversation would not have been secure enough, as Charles and William did not have the skills to detect whether it was being recorded or did not know whether Meghan was not accompanied by an invisible witness.”

Meghan Markle honored

After receiving a few days ago a Gracie Award for her work on her podcast Archetypes, the American media Page Six revealed this Tuesday, April 4, that the Duchess of Sussex would soon be awarded the Women of Vision 2023 award from the Brooklyn-based Ms Foundation for Women. This award, which aims to reward women who are committed to women’s rights and in particular those from minorities or victims of precariousness, will come to greet the “global advocacy for the empowerment and defense of women and girls” of the wife of Prince Harry. Given on May 16 in New York, the award will be presented to the mother of Archie and Lilibet by Gloria Steinem, one of the founders of the association and friend of Meghan Markle, the two women having sympathized in Montecito, during the coronavirus crisis in 2020.
