The Surprising Tension Caused by Eugenie of York’s Friendship with Prince Harry

As the Daily Mail reported on 16 April, Princess Eugenie seems to be in a complicated situation because of her cosy relationship with her cousin Prince Harry, who has left the British royal family and will return to the UK on 6 May for the coronation of Charles III.

May 6 will be a big day for the British royal family as the coronation of King Charles III will take place, in front of the world’s cameras. For this important event, Prince Harry will travel, without his wife, Meghan Markle. The royal’s youngest son will only make a quick trip as he plans to return to the US soon after the ceremony to celebrate his son Archie’s fourth birthday, which is scheduled for the same day. But as the Daily Mail reported on 16 April, the Duke of Sussex’s visit risks putting Princess Eugenie in a difficult position.

The two cousins get on very well, but the young woman’s mother, Sarah Ferguson, recently spoke out against the Duchess of Sussex. Indeed, she felt that Meghan Markle “can’t have it both ways” when it comes to being part of the British royal family, being completely frank. This puts Princess Eugenie in an awkward position if she finds herself facing Prince Harry at the coronation of King Charles III since, as our Anglo-Saxon confrères point out, their friendship is now becoming “a source of tension”. Since his departure from the British royal family, the Duke of Sussex has been the subject of much ink and two camps have been created: that of Prince Harry and his wife, and that of the royal family, which would have preferred to avoid the couple’s shocking revelations on the backstage of the Crown.

For her part, Princess Eugenie seems to be having trouble choosing between the two. Close to the Duke of Sussex and his wife, and a true ally to them, she paid a discreet visit to the couple in California shortly after they moved in. However, she continues her life in the UK and her son, August Philip, born on 9 February 2021 to her husband John Jack Christopher Stamp Brooksbank, is the twelfth in line to the throne. She is currently expecting her second baby, who will also become a royal baby.
