King Charles III Briefly Hospitalized: Where Will He Rest and Recover?

As revealed by Hello magazine on Friday March 28, King Charles III, currently convalescing, has returned to one of his residences to recover in peace.

Still battling cancer since the beginning of 2024, King Charles III has been undergoing treatment assiduously. This Thursday, March 27, however, the monarch encountered health difficulties that led to a brief hospitalization. As a reminder, it was the temporary side effects of his treatment that forced Queen Camilla’s husband to put his various royal engagements on hold to concentrate on his convalescence. Having cancelled several appointments, the monarch left Clarence House, where he resides, on Friday March 28.

As reported by Hello! magazine, the King was spotted leaving his London residence in a black car, having earlier received a visit from his sister, Princess Anne. He took the opportunity to wave to passers-by from behind the lowered car window. A reassuring gesture, but also an opportunity to see his tired face. According to our Anglo-Saxon colleagues, Charles III is most likely to be resting at his Gloucestershire residence: Highgrove House. This will allow the monarch to recuperate from the side effects of his cancer treatment. Living in Gatcombe Park, just a short drive from where his elder brother will be staying, Princess Anne is likely to visit him again to support him through this difficult period.

A busy April ahead

Forced to remain in convalescence until he is back on his feet, King Charles III has missed four public appointments in Birmingham. The Palace revealed: “He is very disappointed to miss them.” According to the Daily Beast, the British monarch should be able to resume royal engagements as early as next week. In April, from April 7 to 10, the father of Princes William and Harry is due to travel to Italy for his official visit. During this trip, the King will also be celebrating the 20th anniversary of his marriage to Camilla.
