The funeral of Lisa Marie Presley (54 years) took place this Sunday, January 22 at Graceland, the historic property of Elvis Presley located in Memphis (Tennessee). His friend Sarah Ferguson, the ex-wife of Andrew of York, attended the ceremony. The two women had met in the United States in 2009 and had quickly become very close. Thus, during the funeral service, the mother of princesses Beatrice and Eugenie greeted an “extraordinary” woman.
At the microphone, “Fergie” quoted Queen Elizabeth II: “My late mother-in-law used to say that nothing [can ease] the anguish and pain of these moments because grief is the price we pay for love.” She also had a thought for Priscilla Presley, Lisa Marie’s mother. The Duchess of York lamented, “Mothers losing their children, there are no words for that.” Before continuing, “We are all with you. If you just reach out, we will be there. I will certainly be there.”
The loss of her “sisterhood”
Lisa Marie Presley passed away on January 12 from cardiac arrest. The day after her death, Sarah Ferguson had shared a touching message on Instagram. She had revealed, “You were my devoted friend for many years and I am here for your family to support and love. I am deeply saddened my sister, you are in my heart.” A beautiful tribute for the one who was the daughter of the King.
