With journalist Omid Scobie’s book Endgame coming out in the UK today, Charles III has decided to show no signs of weakness. Despite the revelations already made in the press, the sovereign was serene as he received the Prime Minister of Samoa at Buckingham Palace on Monday 27 November.
The Windsors are masters in the art of containing their emotions. And Charles III proved it once again. On Monday 27 November, on the eve of the release of Omid Scobie’s much-anticipated Endgame, and despite excerpts that have already caused several bombshells to explode in the press, the sovereign did not bat an eyelid. As he received Afioga Fiame Naomi Mata’afa, the Prime Minister of Samoa, at Buckingham Palace, Queen Camilla’s husband wore a relaxed smile, seemingly light years away from any concerns he might have about the imminent publication of the writings of the man nicknamed the ‘Sussex biographer’.
However, the extracts from Endgame that have already leaked to the press must have caused quite a stir at Buckingham Palace. From the letters exchanged between Meghan Markle and Charles III to the allegations suggesting that the sovereign had called his son “an idiot” the day after the release of the documentary Harry & Meghan on Netflix, not forgetting the revelations concerning the death of Elizabeth II, suggesting that the Duke of Sussex had not been kept informed of his grandmother’s deteriorating state of health, this new opus in the writings of Omid Scobie already promises to be very juicy.
What were the contents of the letters exchanged between King Charles III and Meghan Markle?
This is probably one of the biggest revelations in Omid Scobie’s second book. In Endgame, the Briton reports that letters were exchanged between Meghan Markle and Charles III in the aftermath of the famous interview given to Oprah Winfrey, in which the Duchess of Sussex referred to the racist remarks heard within the Royal Household.
Prince Harry‘s wife reportedly tried to contact her father-in-law, then Prince of Wales, after Elizabeth II discredited her comments, saying that “memories can sometimes deceive us”. During these exchanges, the former actress reportedly even revealed the identities of the two people who had expressed concern about the skin colour of Prince Archie, with whom Meghan Markle was pregnant in 2019. Information that Omid Scobie has not shared in her new book, for fear of exposing herself to legal action.
