Princess Anne has once again made a remarkable appearance at the rugby match of the Six Nations Tournament between Wales and Scotland, this Saturday, February 11. The opportunity for the sister of King Charles III to prove that, even at 72 years old, one can be elegant in all occasions.
Would Princess Anne have taken a liking to rugby? After attending the England-Scotland match at Twickenham Stadium on February 4, in the company of her husband, Sir Timothy Laurence, and her son-in-law, Mike Tindall, who is a former rugby player, Charles III’s sister was again in the stands on Saturday, February 11. This time, Scotland faced Wales, and it is alone that the princess went to Edinburgh to attend this Six Nations Tournament match.
To face the frigid weather of the Northern Athens, Hello! magazine reports that the only daughter of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip opted for a dark blue pantsuit paired with an elegant, yet classic, navy blue double-breasted wool coat. And while she had to greet the players on the field, the septuagenarian once again proved she was fearless with a pair of low leather boots.
More than a scarf, a tribute
Taking care as always of her outfit down to the smallest details, the eldest of Princes Andrew and Edward also wore a tartan scarf with very particular colors. Yellow and azure: these are the colors of the teams for which the rugby player Doddie Weir played and that he had chosen to honor when creating, in 2018, his own tartan in collaboration with the brand ScotlandShop. This collection aimed to raise funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which works for research on Charcot disease, which the Scottish player had been diagnosed with in 2016.
By wearing this scarf with its characteristic colors, Princess Anne has paid a moving but discreet tribute to Doddie Weir, who died in November 2022 after a long battle with the disease.
