A sad news for the fans of the British monarchy. King Charles III and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla have decided, by mutual agreement with Emmanuel Macron, to cancel the visit planned to Paris and Bordeaux from March 26 to 29. The President of the Republic did not want Charles III and his wife to be received in an angry France, following the announcement of a new national day of action against the pension reform on Tuesday, March 28. The “good sense and friendship” led the president to propose a postponement to King Charles III, “at the beginning of the summer, depending on our respective agendas,” said Emmanuel Macron at a press conference in Brussels.
With the coronation scheduled for May 6, it would have been difficult for the king and queen to visit the French, even though they had promised Emmanuel Macron their first official trip abroad as a royal couple. According to Buckingham Palace, the couple is looking forward to a new opportunity to come to France, “as soon as new dates can be found.” The President of the Republic seems to want Charles III to be received “in conditions that correspond to our relationship of friendship”.
