Coronation of King Charles III: this element of decoration which should create the surprise!

In three months, Charles III will be crowned in Westminster Abbey, in London. Behind the scenes, everyone is busy preparing for this historic day. However, a traditional decorative object could be left out of the plan, as reported by the “Daily Express”.

A coronation dusted off? On May 6, King Charles III will be crowned in the magnificent Westminster Abbey in London. A day so important for the Crown that is already preparing in the shadows for years under the name “Operation Golden Orb”. But one detail has caught the attention of some people during these preparations. It seems that no chairs with the royal seal of Charles III, a tradition of coronations dating back one hundred and twenty-one years, have been ordered, as reported by the Daily Express on Saturday, February 11.

The more than 2,000 guests expected to attend the historic day will potentially be able to sit on “normal” chairs, a first since 1902 and the coronation of Edward VII. “For the moment, our plan is simply to use normal seats for the coronation,” a spokeswoman for Westminster Abbey told our colleagues. “It would be very sad if the information was true,” said Luke Honey, an antique dealer and coronation furniture expert, who saw the potential change as a missed opportunity to promote English craftsmanship.

Coronation of Charles III: an inexpensive ceremony?

Behind this possible change in furniture, our colleagues have highlighted the possible desire to relieve the wallet of the British since the people employed this year to organize the coronation will be paid in part by the taxpayer. Moreover, the British royal family had emphasized its desire to organize a “shorter and less expensive” ceremony than that of Elizabeth II because of “the rising cost of living and to support the idea” of Charles III “of a lighter monarchy”, as reported by Capital in early February.
