Catherine Princess Of Wales and Prince William: when the couple was just steps away from Harry and Meghan’s home in Montecito

Now at war, Catherine Princess Of Wales, Prince William, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have not seen or spoken for many months. In an exclusive interview with Gala magazine, Richard Mineards, a reporter for the Montecito newspaper, recalls the time when the Cambridges went to Santa Barbara, not far from the Sussexes, for a royal engagement.

A funny crossroads. It is from now on of public knowledge: the Cambridges and the Sussexes cannot see themselves in painting any more. The departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2020, their interview-choc with Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix documentary series and the memoirs of William‘s youngest have definitely sown the seeds of discord between the ex-“Fab Four”. If today California is the new home of the youngest son of Charles III and his little family, it is far from being the favorite place of the heir to the Crown and his perfect wife.

But when the couple has to go there to honor royal commitments, they don’t do things by halves. In the interview granted exclusively to Gala magazine, Richard Mineards, reporter for the Montecito newspaper, reminded us of the time when the parents of George, Charlotte and Louis came to visit Santa Barbara, a stone’s throw from Meghan and Harry‘s current home. “Last summer, Harry was at the Santa Barbara Polo Club, where he plays regularly with his good friend Nacho Figueras from Argentina,” reports the journalist who has worked for the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail.

Catherine Princess Of Wales and Prince William have never visited Harry and Meghan in the United States

Assiduously following the course of Prince Harry since his move to the American West Coast, Richard Mineards notes the added value that the thirty-year-old brings to the sports structure where Kate and William had visited in 2012. “I think he will also play regularly during the next season, which will do wonders for the attendance of the club,” he details in our interview. He recalls: “Prince William and his wife Kate visited the club 12 years ago for the centenary celebrations. William played in a tournament match and scored five goals. Kate Middleton then presented him with the Tiffany Trophy.”

The two tandems have never been seen on American soil, however, since the Sussexes‘ abrupt move three years ago. In December 2022, Kate and William spent several days in Boston. The highlight of their three-day stay was the Earthshot Prize Awards evening on December 2. The ceremony created by Prince William to reward initiatives fighting against global warming had allowed the future king of England and his wife to take the light, a few days before the release of the first part of Harry & Meghan on Netflix.
