Princess Charlene of Monaco rekindles her passion for a good cause

On Friday 21 April, Charlene of Monaco rekindled an old passion: swimming. The wife of Prince Albert accompanied several dozen children “to water rescue activities at the Louis-II Stadium pool”, as her foundation indicated on social networks.

Charlene of Monaco got her swimming costume wet for a good cause. On Friday 21 April, the mother of twins Jacques and Gabriella agreed to give of herself, but also and above all to renew one of her great passions, namely swimming. As a former professional swimmer, Prince Albert’s wife was delighted to accompany 85 children by taking part in “water rescue activities at the Stade Louis-II swimming pool”, as the Monegasque princess’ foundation indicated on Instagram. The sporting – and obviously convivial – event took place ahead of the Saint Devote Rugby Tournament. As well as posing with the children, Charlene of Monaco also took part in the pool with them.

Alongside the princess, the children, who came from seven different teams, “took part in various drowning prevention and first aid workshops in turn”. Among the activities offered during the day: cardiopulmonary resuscitation, rescue and water polo. As shown in a series of photos shared on the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation’s Instagram account, Prince Albert’s wife was very involved and attentive to the various workshops offered.

Charlene of Monaco: a passion she shares with her children

While she was a professional swimmer when she met Albert II of Monaco, Princess Charlene has passed on her passion for swimming to her two children. A few years ago, in the columns of the magazine Point de vue, the former champion explained that she was keen to teach her twins a taste for effort: “Sport is good for all of us, for the youngest, it develops flexibility, coordination, and the ability to grasp space. Of course, I encourage my children to do as much as possible. Jacques and Gabriella have a taste for physical activity – the fact that they learned to swim very early on, both for their safety and for my peace of mind, probably proved to be a determining factor,” she told our colleagues. There is no doubt that in the Grimaldi family, sport is a family affair.
