Royal Dinner at Versailles: King Charles III and Camilla’s Menu Unveiled in France

As Le Parisien revealed on Tuesday 19 September, King Charles III and his wife Camilla will have the luxury of savouring a four-star menu at Versailles the day after their arrival in France, which is likely to leave them speechless.

Wednesday 20 September will be an opportunity for King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla, to enjoy the French art of living. The British monarch will be travelling in France for three days, having had to cancel his previous planned visit because of the social crisis caused by the much-criticised pension reform. He will be received in Paris, notably at Versailles, before travelling to Bordeaux.

And at the reception organised in the Yvelines, the father of Princes William and Harry will be able to indulge in some fine food. As reported in Le Parisien on Tuesday 19 September, Charles III and Camilla will be treated by chefs who know their field inside out and have been awarded three stars in the Michelin Guide since 2007. Anne-Sophie Pic will be in charge of the starter and Yannick Alléno the main course. The rest of the royal dinner will be prepared by pastry chef Pierre Hermé, who has been entrusted with the preparation of the dessert. To ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible, the Élysée Palace and Buckingham Palace have worked together to ensure that there are no blunders on this important gastronomic evening.

A complete menu to discover the jewels of French gastronomy

As our journalists point out, the food tastes of King Charles III and Camilla have been studied since last January. And it seems that, for the starter, the guests will enjoy blue lobster, crab with a fresh almond veil and mint-cock. As for the main course, it will feature Bresse poultry with corn, accompanied by a cep gratin. The cheese to be served next will come from Antony. There will be thirty-month Comté, a goat’s cheese log and a stichelton (which turns out to be English blue cheese), which can be enjoyed with a mirabelle plum jelly. Finally, for dessert, enjoy Ispahan, Pierre Hermé’s famous macaroon cake with floral and fruity notes, to which a lychee sorbet will be added. Everything to ensure that King Charles III and Camilla return to the United Kingdom with their bellies full and their taste buds wide awake.
