From Princess to Mrs. Brooksbank: Eugenie of York’s Royal Fairytale

Eugenie of York married Jack Brooksbank in 2018, eight years after they first met during a winter holiday in Verbier, Switzerland. Appearing on the Table Manners podcast, picked up by Honey on Wednesday 22 November, Prince Andrew’s daughter told more about the beginning of her story with the businessman.

Thirteen years of love. With the birth of August in February 2021 and little Ernest on 5 June this year, Eugenie of York and her husband Jack Brooksbank have everything they need to be fulfilled. Since meeting in March 2010, the happy parents have enjoyed a beautiful love story, which culminated in a magnificent wedding held on 12 October 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor. Interviewed by Jessie and Lennie Ware on the Table Manners podcast, which was picked up by Honey on Wednesday 22 November, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson revealed previously unpublished details about her early days with the Casamigos Tequila brand ambassador.

At the time, Eugenie was barely 20 years old. She had been studying English literature, art history and politics at Newcastle University for a year. At the start of 2010, she is enjoying a winter sports holiday in Verbier, Switzerland. “We saw each other for the first time in March,” the 33-year-old mother-of-one tells Jessie and Lennie Ware. “We met through a couple of friends. I was texting the girl and Jack was texting the boy.” The spark between the princess and the young baronet was definitely there. “I kept asking myself, ‘Is he going to write to me?” continues Beatrice of York’s sister. Eugenie and Jack quickly planned a “tryst” at a restaurant in May 2010. “We went to a restaurant called Osteria Basilico, in the Notting Hill area of London,” the princess revealed. And she exclaimed: “They make the best courgette, tomato and prawn pasta in the world!”

Eugenie and Jack: their life divided between England and Portugal

For several months now, Eugenie and Jack have been dividing their time between England and Portugal. When they are in their home country, they stay at Frogmore Cottage, the former home of Harry and Meghan on the Windsor estate. For the other half of the year, the family lives south of Lisbon. Jack Brooksbank has secured a key position in Portugal alongside Mike Meldman, CEO of Discovery Land Company, a group of luxury clubs and resorts operating around the world, while his wife maintains her commitments and royal duties in England, as do the other members of the Windsor family. However, she would like to return to the UK permanently to be closer to her parents and “so that her boys can spend more time with their cousins in England”, reported the British media OK! quoted in the Express.
