Royal Revelation: What Charles III and Camilla Are Serving at Their Coronation!

The Twitter account of the British royal family has revealed the name of the dish chosen by King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla for the coronation on 6 May. The recipe for the dish is… surprising.

The British culinary genius has not finished surprising us! King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla have unveiled the “coronation recipe”. This is not a dish to be served after the coronation ceremony in Westminster Abbey on 6 May. The surprising dish is a proposal made by the royal couple and will be available for Britons to replicate on 7 May, for the popular Coronation Big Lunch gatherings. If the royal dish is surprising, it is because it is not really British: it is a coronation quiche.

“Personally chosen by his majesties, the King and Queen Consort are sharing a recipe to celebrate the Coronation big lunch that would take place across the country,” announced the British royal family’s Twitter account, before unveiling a video of the coronation quiche. The choice of quiche surprised the British, and the recipe will make some French people scream. The ingredients include spinach, broad beans, tarragon and cheddar cheese.

Is the “Coronation quiche” a politically correct dish?

The British royal family praises the choice of this vegetarian quiche, explaining that it “easily adapts to different tastes and preferences”. “Eat hot or cold with a green salad and boiled new potatoes,” even advises Charles III and Camilla.

The royal couple’s Twitter account reminds us that the Coronation big lunch is meant to be an opportunity to “bring neighbours and communities together” and “celebrate the coronation and share friendship, food and fun”. The popular event is expected to resemble the street gatherings and outdoor feasts seen in June 2022 during Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee. This day of festivities will be followed on Monday 8 May by a big day of volunteering, the third and final day of Charles III’s coronation celebrations.
